Abstract

All great achievements start with passion. Passion is what fuels everything. Passion is what motivates you, whether your motivations are spiritual, artistic, political, economic, social, or personal. Passion is what shapes your purpose, in life & work. You know that you are passionate about something when you become restless, when you wake up every morning determined to live your passion.
Presenting TIMES PASSION TRAILS, a unique travel experience which will help you actualize your passion. Come along on a journey which lets you live what you love. Led by a seasoned expert, explore & challenge your passion. Learn with every twist & turn, experience the inexpressible & share the joy with others as you proceed on the memorable ‘Trail’.

The project was done at MSL Group, India (Jan 2015 – May 2015) as a Design Intern for Times of India and Yatra. The website went live in April 2015 and since then, has gone through many similar revampings.  My role as a designer was to redesign the existing website and make it responsive, user-friendly, and accessible on all devices. 

Metric Analysis of the existing website
Major drawbacks of the existing website:
  • It was Slow.

  • It had a Limited User Outreach.

  • There was no convenient way to make payments.

  • The existing website was ‘Single Trail Oriented’. It did not give many options to the users. While there were multiple live trails at the same time, not more than one trail could be shown live on the website.

  • It was observed that most users were accessing the website through their mobile phones. The website was however not mobile friendly and responsive.

  • There was no platform given to the users to post in their queries or give feedbacks.

Final proposed additions:
  • Updated front end and restructuring of the home page. UX emphasised front-end design.

  • Improving the navigation to help user move from the home page to tribes and back.

  • Notification updates on the website about functionality.

  • Focus on home page to be on Passions.

  • Addition of new passions on the home page leading to a new page.

  • Classification of trails into regular and weekend trails, further classified into ongoing, culminated and coming soon trails.

  • Updates for each trail to be restructured with high level of CTA.

  • User defined based on their interaction level and site usage.

  • User type content targeting

  • Crowdsourced functionality to allow select users to upload on the platform for public viewing- supports images, video, text.

  • Gallery restricting based on passions and trails sourced from Flickr.
